Purpose. This register lists every hazardous chemical used or stored at Luxe sites, where it is kept, and where its safety data sheet is held.

1.Purpose

Work health and safety law requires a register of all hazardous chemicals used, handled or stored at the workplace, with a current safety data sheet for each. This register is the single list for all three Luxe sites and is kept at the colour bar, the clinic dispensary and in the document library.

2.What is listed

Each entry records the product name, manufacturer, hazard class from the safety data sheet, the site and storage location, the maximum quantity held, the date the safety data sheet was issued and the date it was last checked. Products that are not hazardous, such as shampoos and most conditioners, are not listed.

3.Current entries

The register holds the following product groups. The full line-by-line entries are maintained in the stock register system under the hazardous flag.

  • Oxidative permanent and demi-permanent colour ranges
  • Bleach powder and lightening creams
  • Hydrogen peroxide developers in 10, 20, 30 and 40 volume
  • Chemical reformation lotions and neutralisers
  • Keratin and protein smoothing treatments
  • Acrylic monomer, gel and dip powder systems
  • Superficial peel solutions for the clinic
  • Instrument grade disinfectant and steriliser cleaning agents

4.Safety data sheets

A safety data sheet must be no more than five years old and must be the Australian version. Sheets are filed alphabetically in the red folder at each mixing point and electronically in the document library. Staff must read the sheet before using a product for the first time.

5.Adding and removing products

A new product must not be brought on site until the Retail and Stock Coordinator has added it to the register with its safety data sheet. Discontinued products must be removed from stock and the entry marked as removed with the date.

6.Review

The register will be reviewed quarterly and after any chemical incident. The review will be recorded in the stock register system and reported at the team meeting.
