Purpose. This procedure gives the front-of-house and floor leader the daily opening and closing routine for each Luxe site, including the till reconciliation.

1.Opening the site

The opening staff member must arrive 30 minutes before the first appointment, disarm the alarm, switch on lights, hot water and the steriliser, and complete the opening checklist. The appointment book must be reviewed for the day, confirmations checked and any patch test or consent requirements flagged to the stylist or therapist. The float must be counted, confirmed against the float record and signed.

  • Alarm off, lights and hot water on
  • Steriliser warm-up cycle started
  • Floor and basin checks completed
  • Float counted and signed

2.During the day

Reception must greet every client within one minute of arrival, confirm the booked service and price, and offer a gown and a drink. Every service must be rung through at the time of payment with the correct staff member and product codes so that commission and stock records stay accurate. Refunds and voids must be authorised by the floor leader and the reason recorded.

3.Closing the floor

Stations must be cleared, tools reprocessed, the colour bar cleaned and chemical containers closed. Floors must be swept and mopped, bins emptied and towels put on to wash. The last person to leave each area must sign the closing checklist for that area.

4.Cash reconciliation

The floor leader must run the end-of-day report from the point of sale system, count cash, card and voucher totals and compare them to the report. Any variance over five dollars must be investigated before the till is closed and recorded with an explanation. Cash above the float must be placed in the safe drop and the reconciliation sheet signed by two staff.

5.Securing the site

The closing staff member must check that all appliances are switched off at the wall, the steriliser has completed its final cycle, windows and back door are locked, and the alarm is set. Two staff must leave together after late trading.
