Write the skin needling procedure and run a new client consultation
You are the Senior Skin Therapist in the South Yarra clinic.
What has happened
Skin needling becomes a standard clinic service from 1 October and there is no written procedure. The Operations and Compliance Manager wants a controlled document in the Luxe format that sits under the Infection Control Policy, the Client Consultation and Consent Policy and the Instrument Cleaning, Sterilisation and Sharps Procedure. It must cover contraindications, consent, single-use cartridge handling, treatment parameters, aftercare and reaction management. To test it, a new skin client is booked with the Clinic Manager on 16 September for a full consultation, and an existing client is on visit two of a three-visit needling program with consent to be re-signed.
Deliverables
- Draft Skin Needling Procedure in controlled document format
- Completed consultation and consent record for the new client
- Treatment plan or documented alternative
- Updated record for the existing program client
- Cover note with changes from testing

Evidence guide
The procedure must read as a controlled document with clear obligations, correct infection control for skin penetration, single-use cartridges, and a reaction pathway that references the incident register. The consultation record must show a complete health screen and informed consent obtained on the day. Look for judgement in deciding suitability and for genuine changes to the draft arising from the test case.
